Stick It!’s Love Your Body Day Anti-Porn Stealth Activism!

As promised!

The propaganda:

If you don’t want men to treat you like this,
Then why is it okay for other women?
Do something.

Today is Love Your Body Day.
Does this look like love to you?
If not, do something.

The target:

It was a bit tricky, as the porno shelf is three shelves back from the store entrance, and right next to the info desk. (In contrast, the children’s section is upstairs and as far away as you can get from the escalators. By all means, make it easy for the boyz to run in and grab their woman-hating wank-fodder, while the kids and moms should have to walk past every product in the store.) There were several low-level management types lurking around, I’m sure wondering about my interest in the “men’s interest,” but I nonchalantly grabbed copies of FHM, Maxim, Ralph, and Stuff and dawdled my way upstairs.

The outcome:

I left the magazines open on shelves in several sections with snippets of propaganda next to them. This especially lovely feature depicts “hot girl-on-girl action.” Yeah, because all the lesbians I know look just like that. Sheesh. How stupid are men? Stupid enough to support the publishing of, what, 11, 12 different magazines of this type? Not to mention the wrapped-in-plastic kind. Well, here’s to you, boyz.

The best way I can think of to celebrate Love Your Body Day…

…is by exposing the exploitation of women’s bodies in “men’s health” magazines.

Taking a page from clever Charliegrrl’s book, I’ll be down at Barnes & Noble tomorrow, opening up the Maxim and Stuff magazines so their obnoxious sexist content is visible to all shoppers.

Thanks Charliegrrl! Photos to follow!

Welcome to the Newest Blog for Stealth Feminist Activism!

We’re sick and tired of wanting to do something, but not knowing what to do. How about you? So here’s the idea. This is not our idea–it’s been floating around in various contexts for a while now–but we’re doing something about it. We’re creating vile feminist propaganda and sticking it (ha ha, get it?) in places where it might do some good–inside books and magazines in bookstores, grocery stores, doctors’ offices, wherever. You can use our propaganda or make your own–it’s easy!

Much as we respect sister blog Adhesively Unchallenged, we must say up front that it would be terribly, terribly WRONG to, for example, print such propaganda on sticky paper and stick it to, oh, say, diet products in the supermarket, or the walls of the men’s room. We rest assured neither we nor any of our readers would ever do such a thing, and if they did, they certainly wouldn’t send us pictures and details of their exploits to stickitblog @ yahoo dot com.
